Festival proves to be barking mad success!

It was the doggy social event of the year for pooch lovers at Kirkley Hall this weekend; over 5000 visitors were welcomed through the gates to enjoy a jam packed day of fun in the sun; joined by 1000’s of dogs in every shape, colour and size you could imagine.

Dogs got their chance to try their paw at agility, hoopers, canicross, scentwork, flyball, triebball, gundog scurries, temptation alley, fastest recall and two dog shows! Whilst human visitors enjoyed shopping at over 130 exhibitors.

The East Anglian Staffordshire Bull Terrier Display Team strutted their stuff in the main ring with a display of tricks, obedience and agility, whilst local clubs showed off their skills in everything from whippet racing to flyball.

Northumbria Police were on site in the Dogs With Jobs area alongside fantastic organisations and charities that work and train dogs to embark on some of the most amazing careers. Crowning of the festival show champion signalled the end of a jam packed day for dog lovers with many walking away with rosettes, prizes and toys and treats a plenty!

Rebecca Ashworth Earle and Dawn Oliver Doyle, festival directors commented; “Saturday’s event was a real success. As a team we have worked tirelessly to turn two empty fields into something magical. Dawn and myself are forever grateful to our supporters, none more so than our families who worked from Monday to help us bring our vision to light. We are also very appreciative to our partner sponsor Vets4Pets and the work they have done for this years festival. We hope to announce another date very soon after a well deserved rest”
