Local Canicross group joins The North East Dog Festival Lineup
The North of Tyne Canicross club (joined by Cani-sport Seaham and Tees Valley Canicross) will be demonstrating in this years main ring. Come and find out all about this fantastic sport; watch some of the dogs in action - and maybe consider joining a club to take part.
A sport relatively new to the North East, Canicross is the sport of running off-road with your dog. The human participant wears a waistbelt which attaches via a 2-metre bungee line to a padded dog harness. It is a fantastic way to keep you and your dog fit whilst enjoying the great outdoors together. It provides a physical workout for your dog and the use of directional commands will help him to learn to use his brain and build up his confidence.
In the North East there are currently three groups that promote the sport;
North of Tyne Canicross
Cani-sport Seaham
Tees Valley Canicross
The groups hold regular social runs where members can participate. You can find details on their Facebook pages.
