Introducing Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

The charity dog shows are an integral part of the North East Dog Festival. For years charities have raised £1000s for their individual causes with hundreds of dogs taking part. This year we welcome some new faces and returning favourites.

For the first time at the festival we have the wonderful team from the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter. You'll be able to enter their dog show throughout the weekend and support their wonderful charity. Visit their area to find out more about the work they do and the animals they have for rehoming.

About

Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter was established in 1896 and helps thousands of lost, unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned animals every year. Our objective is The promotion of kindness and prevention of cruelty to animals.

We reunite lost animals with their owners and find loving new homes for those no longer wanted. We cover the whole of the North East from our two shelters within Newcastle, Claremont Road and Benton North Farm.

As well as being a rehoming centre, our Benton site also farms our permanent rescued residents. From donkeys and chickens to bees and goats, our team works hard to provide them with a happy and loving forever home where their every need is taken care of.

Last year we celebrated 125 years of saving lives in the North East and we want to ensure we are here for years to come to help animals in need. In order to fund our high standard of care whilst operating & maintaining our arrivals centre, rehoming centre and stores, we need the support of the local community & companies alike.
