Welcoming Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter
Every year The North East Dog Festival welcomes charities from across the region.
This year will be no different as we welcome back Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter for a second year.
The charity dog shows are an integral part of the North East Dog Festival. For years charities have raised thousands for their individual causes with hundreds of dogs taking part.
Directors Rebecca Ashworth Earle and Dawn Oliver Doyle commented; “When we designed the festival we always knew we wanted to provide the infrastructure for charities to run dog shows and raise funds at no cost to them; the festival welcomes thousands of visitors every year and what better way to incorporate not only the opportunity for people to show off their dogs, but also support charities in the process".
Returning for their second year at the festival we have the wonderful team from the Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter, and you'll be able to enter their dog show throughout the weekend supporting their wonderful charity. Visit their area to find out more about the work they do and the animals they have for rehoming.
There will also be a very special main ring timetable slot for dogs rehomed from the shelter - more details will be announced nearer to the festival.
“We are delighted to be invited back to North East Dog Festival to run the dog show in 2023. This opportunity gives us the exposure we need to get the animals in our care into their forever homes, whilst generating income to support the shelter’s annual running costs of around £1.3 million per annum. We raised a phenomenal £1,200 over the weekend in 2022 so our team are very excited to return this September to see so many of our ex-residents and many new faces too, with an extra special category in this year’s dog show which is close to our hearts.” Amy Holmes, Events at NDCT
